Rincon Police: Stun guns don't stop disturbed man

From incident reports at the Rincon Police Department:

Public drunkenness

Feb. 20: A 31-year-old Clyo woman was passed out drunk by a dentist’s office on Ga. 21. After an officer arrived, she became upset, cried and threw up several times in the back seat of the police car.

She was cited for public drunkenness and her mother was called to come get her.

Feb. 21: A woman said two women came into the Huddle House and threatened her with bodily harm. She said on a previous date, she tried to prevent one of the women from driving drunk.

Feb. 22: A woman said her boyfriend’s ex-girlfriend has threatened her in person and by phone.

Feb. 22: Underground phone lines were cut on Ackerman Road, disrupting service to several homes. It’s the second time it happened.

Feb. 23: A Rincon man said someone used his Social Security number at the IRS. And someone used his credit card to spend $142 at a gas station in Virginia.

Feb. 24: A man said he was threatened when he was at the Texaco on Fort Howard Road. The man accused him of cursing at his girlfriend, who works at Little Caesar’s, and calling her names on Facebook.

Feb. 24: A vehicle was egged on Willowpeg Way.

Disturbed man

Feb. 24: A 35-year-old shirtless man from Guyton was harassing customers and employees at Walmart. The man said the officers were the “Dixie mafia” and were there to kill him. He agreed to leave the property.

About 30 minutes later, at 10:45 p.m., the man jumped in front of a woman’s car, yelling something she couldn’t understand, at Ga. 21 and W. Ninth Street. An officer said the man appeared to be “very mentally unstable or on some narcotic.”

Officers stunned the man several times, including drive stuns with direct contact to his body, but he laughed as if he were being tickled. Sheriff’s deputies and officers finally were able to get him in handcuffs.

He was charged with disorderly conduct and felony obstruction of an officer.

Feb. 26: An officer ran the tag of a vehicle on Ga. 21 and learned that its owner was wanted on a failure to appear warrant from Effingham. He turned the woman over to a sheriff’s deputy.

Feb. 26: A resident of Town Park Drive W. said he believes his former girlfriend stole his laptop, valued at $400, when he went overseas in August.

Feb. 26: The front door of an apartment on Town Park Drive W. was damaged, but the offender did not make entry.

Wardrobe malfunction

Feb. 26: A resident of Stonewalk Drive said her 27-year-old daughter banged on the door, seemed to be high, and demanded her coat before speeding away. 

An officer stopped the woman nearby. She was wearing a hoodie inside out and backwards, with the hood beneath her chin. She “seemed unaware of this.” She was arrested for driving under the influence less safe any combination.
