Rincon Police: Stolen iPad recovered through tracking

From incident reports at the Rincon Police Department:

Oct. 5: A woman said someone moved her husband’s Social Security check to another bank account without their permission.

Oct. 10: A woman came to her unit at Effingham Mini Storage and said someone had put a different lock on the unit. She had the manager cut the lock. Her unit had been rummaged through and a safe and 150 half-dollar coins were missing.

Oct. 11: A woman was arrested for punching the bouncer at Alibi’s.

Oct. 12: An officer stopped a pickup truck on Ga. 21 for suspended registration. The driver was arrested for drunken driving-refusal, driving with a suspended license and expired tag.

Tablet found

Oct. 12: A Guyton woman said her iPad was stolen from her shopping cart at Walmart. She tracked it to a house on Quarterhorse Drive. An officer went to the address and retrieved the iPad.

Oct. 12: A woman complained that her daughter’s boyfriend was threatening to beat up her 14-year-old son.

Oct. 12: Someone broke out the front window of a trailer on W. Ninth Street.

Oct. 12: The owner of a lot on Crooked Oaks Drive said several trees had been cut down without permission. A neighbor admitted helping to cut the trees.

Oct. 13: An officer stopped a vehicle for doing 53 mph in a 35 mph zone on Ga. 21. The driver was arrested for possession of cocaine and marijuana, speeding and crossing a guard line with contraband.

House burglarized

Oct. 13: Three TVs and a computer were stolen from a house on Sterling Drive. Entry was made through a front window.

Oct. 13: A woman said her grandson pawned her ring without her permission. He got $17 for a ring she valued at $100. She got the ring back and pressed charges against her grandson.

Oct. 14: A woman was cited for having a dog at large on Windsong Drive. She also was arrested for an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in court.

Oct. 14: A pickup truck was broken into a week earlier on Stonewalk Drive. An iPod, $10 roll of quarters and a change dispenser were taken.

Stop calling

Oct. 14: A woman said she was having problems with her “husband/live-in boyfriend/baby daddy.” She said since she moved in with another man, he calls her 20 to 30 times a day.

Oct. 14: A man who admitted threatening to kill his girlfriend over money she owes him was arrested for making terroristic threats.

Oct. 14: A woman said her purse was stolen from the daycare area of the YMCA. It contained a tablet, cell phone, credit cards and ID.

Oct. 15: An officer pulled over a vehicle on Ga. 21 for expired tag. The driver fled on foot. He was caught and arrested for driving with a suspended license, expired tag, obstruction and a parole warrant.

Oct. 15: An officer did a check with a state corrections officer of someone who is on probation on Aspen Arbor Drive. The man was charged with possession of cocaine and marijuana and drug-related objects, as well as cruelty to children.

No sale

Oct. 15: A 37-year-old Rincon man was arrested and accused of trying to steal $67 worth of items from Walmart. He put $1 price stickers on items that cost more and then tried to pay for them in the self-check register.

Impaired driver

Oct. 15: A Savannah man who ran over a trash can and drove on the wrong side of Smithfield Drive was arrested for possession of spice and for driving under the influence of drugs – less safe. The vehicle was parked in a driveway, running, and he was asleep in the driver’s seat when officers found him.

Oct. 16: Windsong Drive. A couple argued. He was told about eviction procedures.

Oct 17: A 24-year-old man from Ellabell was arrested for stealing $98 worth of items from Walmart. An officer stopped him as he was trying to leave the store in an SUV.

Oct. 17: An officer running radar on Ga. 21 stopped a vehicle for doing 52 mph in a 35 mph zone. The driver was arrested for drunken driving-less safe, speeding and failure to register tags within 30 days. Officers gave the passenger a ride home. 

Oct 17: An EMS unit reported seeing a motorcyclist speeding, passing on the shoulder and doing wheelies on Ga. 21. An officer caught up with the offender, a 24-year-old Rincon man, on Old Augusta Road and arrested him for reckless driving.
