A Clyo woman who was caught growing marijuana has pleaded guilty and been sentenced to 10 years of probation, a $2,000 fine and 90 days to serve on weekends in the county jail.
Sabar Anne Redd, 59, Of Morgan Cemetery Road, pleaded guilty Thursday in Effingham County Superior Court to manufacture of marijuana and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, court records indicate.
Judge John R. Turner issued the sentence, along with another five years of probation to run concurrently.
Other charges were not prosecuted, including possession of a firearm during commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of drug-related objects.
The drug-related objects were planters, potting soil and gardening chemicals used to grow the marijuana, the accusation said.
Redd faced up to 40 years on the charges.
Deputies found her tending marijuana plants on July 3, 2014.
At the time of the arrest, Sheriff’s Spokesman David Ehsanipoor said Redd was a notorious drug dealer and was known in the community as “Cocaine Annie.”
