
From incident reports at the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office:
April 8: A resident of Grist Mill Court in the Rincon area wanted a criminal trespass warning served to a neighbor’s child. He said the child has stolen things from his house and has pointed a BB gun at his children.
April 27: A man said his estranged wife has threatened to ruin him and a former girlfriend financially, through fraudulent means.
April 28: A woman said her ex-boyfriend has been harassing her in person and by phone.
April 28: Deputies arrested an unwanted person for warrants out of Liberty County and Pooler. Wellington Drive in the Bloomingdale area.
April 28: A Springfield woman said someone else filed taxes under her Social Security number.
Lucky driver
April 29: A deputy pulled over a car because it swerved into his lane while the driver was sending a text message. He let the driver go with an oral warning.
April 29: A deputy answered a call about a crashed or abandoned vehicle on Pine Street near U.S. 80. The driver was arrested on a number of charges, including driving under the influence of drugs.
A woman who was waiting for the driver in a vehicle at his parents’ house was arrested on a number of drug charges.
April 30: A woman said two deer ran in front of her, causing her to crash into a sign on Old Augusta Road S. in the Springfield area. She left the scene, saying she had no cell service there. She was cited for failing to report striking highway fixtures.
April 30: A window was broken on a house on Oakton Drive in the Springfield area. $500 cash was taken.
April 30: A couple who had been together for 24 years, living together the last three years, argued.
She said she told him to divorce his wife or else she was moving out. He said he didn’t believe her until he saw the moving van.
She was told she couldn’t take joint property without going to court first.
Neighbor suspected
April 30: Someone damaged two outdoor surveillance cameras and took the memory cards. The property owner suspects a neighbor, who has been caught on camera trespassing. Mount Hope Road in the Clyo area.
April 30: Someone has been turning off power breakers and tapping on the side of a house on Clyo-Shawnee Road in the Clyo area.
April 30: A woman said the father of her child stole her cell phone.
April 30: A woman said her ex-husband threatened her and her adult son.
May 1: A landlord wanted a deputy to witness damage done to a rental property on Oakview Drive in the Rincon area. Damage include a sagging spot in the floor, scratches on a wall and a broken window.
May 1: An employee at the Dollar General store in Eden secured a criminal trespass warning against a woman she said steals items and argues with workers.
Road hazard
May 1: A Rincon man said something flew off of a tractor trailer and broke a window on his vehicle as he traveled on Ga. 21, at the Effingham County Park of Commerce.
May 1: Deputies helped subdue a man who was confused and combative and apparently had been having seizures. Reynard Drive in the Eden area.
May 2: A deputy stopped a vehicle for running a red light at Ga. 21 and Fort Howard Road. He issued a citation.
May 2: A man stole a buggy full of items from the Dollar General in Eden. He left in a gray SUV.
May 2: A woman said her fiancé's ex-wife has been harassing her.
Unhappy birthday
May 2: Four drunken people who had been celebrating a birthday in Savannah got into a fight in Meldrim. One woman was taken to the hospital. Her face was bloody, swollen and severely bruised.
May 2: A woman brought four men with her and tried to take her vehicle without paying towing and repair bills of $405. Springfield-Egypt Road.
May 3: A woman said she and the father of her child argued, and she said he struck her. She said she hit back in self defense.
May 3: A resident of Old Louisville Road said two juveniles riding a four-wheeler knocked down his mailbox.
Noisy train
May 3: A resident of Rincon Stillwell Road complained that a CSX train sat on the tracks near his property for 41 minutes, blowing its horn every 10 seconds.
He said he was angry and expected an officer to take some action or else he would handle it. A deputy got a CSX special agent to speak to the man.
May 3: A deputy stopped a van for having a cracked windshield and the driver for not wearing a seat belt. The driver was arrested for driving with a suspended license.
He was was given written warnings for the cracked windshield and no seatbelt. Mock Road at Stillwell Road in the Springfield area.
Dead beavers
May 3: A resident of Community Road in the Bloomingdale area found two dead beavers in the pond behind his house. He said he heard gunshots a few days earlier.
May 3: Some lawn care items were stolen from an open trailer on Noel C. Conaway Road in the Guyton area.
May 3: A deputy stopped a vehicle that was weaving on Old River Road at Van Road in the Bloomingdale area. The driver was arrested for drunken driving, failure to maintain lane, driving with a suspended license and fleeing or attempting to elude.
