Kelly Tankersley of Sand Hill Elementary School was chosen as Effingham County’s special education teacher of the year.
Other finalists were Jen Spitko of Ebenezer Middle School and Misti Vandenhouten of Effingham County Middle School.
The teachers were honored at the May 6 Board of Education meeting. Stacy Boyett, coordinator of Exceptional Student Services, and Superintendent Randy Shearouse presented the teachers with plaques. Vandenhouten was not present at the meeting.
