A classroom at Effingham County Middle School was the site of a “virtual field” trip this week as part of Read Across America.
Read Across America is an annual event held in honor of Dr. Suess’s birthday. During the week thousands of schools, libraries and community centers from across the country gather to celebrate a shared reading experience.
At ECMS students in kindergarten and the second and fourth grades traveled to the school, while students from Ebenezer Elementary and Chisholm Elementary School in Montgomery, Ala. made a virtual field trip to the school through technology.
A live feed of the classrooms was displayed so students could see and hear each other.
ECMS students read Dr. Suess books, “The Lorax” and “The Cat in the Hat” to the elementary school students. School superintendant Randy Shearouse read another Dr. Suess favorite, “Oh The Places You’ll Go.”
