Andrew Clark to celebrate 90th birthday

The family of Clayton and Emma Lee Dasher invites all relatives and friends to join in celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary.

A casual drop-in reception will be hosted by their daughter, son-in-law and grandson: Dana Lee, Dana and Evan Smith. The event will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 29 at the Smith’s home at 5107 Ga. 17 South, Guyton, across from Marlow Elementary School.

Clayton and Emma Lee Dasher were married on Sept. 28, 1963, at Zion Lutheran Church. The Rev. Robert Hugh Kepley officiated.

Clayton Dasher is retired from CSX Transportation after 45 years. Emma Lee Dasher is a retired registered nurse. She graduated from Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1963. She worked at Memorial Hospital, Effingham County Nursing Home, Moss Oaks Nursing Home, home health and several Effingham County doctor’s offices.

They both continue to be active members of Zion Lutheran Church. They are also active members of several community organizations: Effingham County Fair Association, Marlow Chapter of Effingham County Farm Bureau and Historic Effingham Society.

Clayton and Emma Lee Dasher request that no gifts be given but instead your presence and your blessings as they celebrate 50 years together.

Captain Andrew Leroy Clark will celebrate his 90th birthday on Sept. 22.

Clark is a World War II Veteran who fought in the battle of Iwo Jima.

He and his 11 brothers and sisters were raised on Tybee Island and in the Savannah area. Clark also lived in Key West, Fla.

He now resides in Effingham County. His wife, Eleanor, was raised in Effingham County, and she was a Salzburger.

Andrew and Eleanor Clark were married for 67 years and they raised five children.

Clark’s daughter, Jackie Wendelken, and her husband, Robert, are planning a barbecue and Lowcountry broil birthday celebration to honor Captain Andy at 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, at their home on 711 Goshen Road in Rincon.
