I would like to say a big thank you to everyone for making the 2nd Annual Back to School Blowout a successful event. Even though it rained again this year, we had an awesome crowd and were able to reach 551 individuals at Thursday night’s event.
Special thanks to Clarence Morgan, Brenda Bruner and staff at the Effingham Recreation Department for providing shelter from the rain, setting up the gym and providing ice cream sundaes to the vendors, volunteers and families that attended the event!
Special thanks also to my wonderful staff, Stephanie Cheeks, Sondra Burns and Jessica Bonds, for their tireless efforts to prepare for this year’s event.
Thank you LaKisha Samuels of WellCare of Georgia for providing the entertainment of Magic Marc. He really was the star of the show and was a wonderful addition to the evening.
Thank you to EMS, Guyton, Springfield and Rincon Fire Departments as well as the Rincon Police Department for braving the storm. You all were troopers out there. The kids really enjoyed going inside your vehicles.
We had such a wonderful array of school supplies and kid friendly items at each booth. It made it very easy for families to willingly brave the rain. Thank you to the 27 participating businesses/organizations for making the event a wonderful success.
A big thank you also goes to our Platinum Partners who helped to provide the entertainment, refreshments, supplies and advertisements for the event. Platinum Partners included: Effingham Recreation Department, Magic Marc, WellCare of Georgia, Coca-Cola, Grace Culture International, Sam’s Club, Effingham 4H, Effingham Magazine, It Works!, Georgia Family Connection/Communities in Schools, Katie McGrory, LPC, RPT, Teach Right!, Flowers Foods, Savannah Speech and Hearing, and the United Way of the Coastal Empire.
Thank you to the 50 volunteers who helped to set up, man the sign in and sign out tables, grill hotdogs, serve food and drinks, serve ice cream sundaes and clean up after the event. The event seemed seamless with their assistance.
Thanks to everyone again for collaborating to create such a successful event.
