Leslie Smith hit a two-out, two-run single to center field in the bottom of the seventh inning, leading Effingham County to a 14-13 come-from-behind fast-pitch softball victory against Savannah Christian. Smith finished the day 2 for 4 with four RBIs for the Rebels (4-1).

SOUTH EFFINGHAM BOYS TEAM DOMINATES CROSS COUNTRY MEET
The South Effingham boys’ cross country team captured five of the top six places as the Mustangs easily took first place in the South Georgia Cross Country Shootout Saturday.
The Mustangs finished with 21 points, far ahead of second-place Windsor Forest with 102. South Effingham’s Brian Heidt was the individual medalist with a time of 16:58.0 over the 5,000-meter course at the New Ebenezer Retreat Center. In the girls’ meet, Southeast Bulloch claimed the team title and Windsor Forest’s Andrea Kay earned medalist honors (20:28.0), edging SEB’s Lauren Higgins by 10 seconds.
