From incident reports at the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office:
July 25: A woman said she returned home to find her husband watching a pornographic video and talking to another woman on the phone. She said he screamed at her and threatened to hit her. He said she sits at home all day and refuses to cook or clean and “acts like she’s right about everything.” Mill Court in the Rincon area.
July 26: Someone “forked” the front yard of a house on Myrtlewood Drive in the Guyton area, putting a lot of plastic forks in the ground. The trees also had toilet paper on them.
July 26: A woman said her boyfriend hit her and slammed her juvenile daughter to the ground. She wouldn’t let him have the car because he doesn’t have a driver’s license. Town Park Drive East in the Rincon area.
July 26: A deputy stopped an SUV because it traveled over the fog line several times and failed to dim its lights to oncoming traffic. The driver’s eyes were bloodshot and he admitted to recently smoking marijuana. The vehicle was towed because the driver was unable “to operate the vehicle while under the influence of marijuana.” The deputy let the driver go. A passenger was arrested and charged with possession of more than an ounce of marijuana, tampering with evidence and possession with intent to distribute. Ga. 119 S. in the Guyton area.
July 27: A father and son fought over the father refusing to turn down the volume on a TV. Corral Court in the Bloomingdale area.
July 27: Someone “forked” the same house on Myrtlewood Drive in the Guyton area that had been hit the day before. Toilet paper was thrown in a tree and plastic wrap was stretched in the bushes, yard and around the mailbox. The homeowner suspects his daughter’s former boyfriend.
July 27: A drunken woman who said her husband beat her and kicked her out of the house refused to say more because he works for Gulfstream and she didn’t want to get him in trouble. She was arrested for public intoxication and obstruction of a law enforcement officer. Ga. 119 S. in the Guyton area.
July 27: A man said he got drunk and broke into the house of an acquaintance because he needed to talk with someone. He awoke the homeowner and told her he wanted to kill himself. She escorted him to the front door and told him to leave. Stagefield Road in the Guyton area.
July 27: A man said he was trying to return an escaped Great Dane to his neighbor’s fenced yard when a Mastiff mix that was in the yard bit him on the arm. Ebenezer Road in the Rincon area.
July 28: A driver who ran a stop sign was arrested for driving with a suspended license. Ga. 21 N. in the Springfield area.
July 28: Someone threw rocks at a house on Meldrim Road in the Meldrim area, damaging the door frame and siding. The homeowner said she had recently repossessed a truck and that might have caused someone to be mad at her.
July 28: A Molotov cocktail was used to try to damage the sign to the Ridgecrest subdivision in the Rincon area.
