High School Sports Briefs

TRACK

The Mustang track team traveled to Liberty County High School to compete against five teams. The boys’ team placed third.

Top boys were:

Ben Magondu 1st in 300 hurdles.

Matt Brown 1st in High Jump.

Jacob Archer 1st in Discus

Bryce Griggs placed 2nd in 800 and 1600 meters.

Darius Scott placed 1st in the Triple Jump with 45’6” measurement.

The girls’ team placed 2nd; and top girls were:

In the 1600m, Rachel Larson placed 1st.

400 meters Derlysa Williams 1st.

Pricilla Cartwright won 800 meters and the 3200 meters.

Cason Smith placed 2nd in the 200 meters.

The 4x400 team placed 1st. The team members were; Robyn Cumming Lexi Butler Cason Smith Derlysa Williams

They will compete at Southeast Bulloch today.

SPRINGFIELD — Will Hodges won a pitchers’ duel with Parker Boyle as Effingham County downed visiting Richmond Hill 2-1 in Region 3-AAAAA action Friday.

Hodges went seven innings, striking out 10 and allowing three hits. Boyle went six innings, scattering nine hits and allowing a pair of earned runs.
