Philip Ross Armitage

Springfield – Philip Ross Armitage, 85, passed away Feb. 15, 2016, at Westview Nursing Home.

He retired from Savannah Electric & Power Co. and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Springfield United Methodist Church and the Springfield Masonic Lodge #440 F. & A.M. and was affectionately known as Santa Claus at Wal-Mart for giving the children quarters.

He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Armitage; parents, William and Helen Harper and his wife of 55 years, Polly Armitage.

He is survived by his daughter, Brenda Thomas; granddaughter, Jennifer (Michael) Pontbriand; great-grandsons, Braden Thomas-Folmar and Logan Pontbriand; and his furbaby, Max.

Visitation will be 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. today, Feb. 17, followed by funeral services at 2 p.m. in the chapel.

Interment will follow in Springfield Cemetery.

Remembrances may be given to the Treutlen House, 131 Old Augusta Road Central, Rincon, GA 31326 or the Methodist Home for Children, P.O. Box 2525, Macon, GA 31203.

Karen Knabb Hodges

Springfield – Karen Knabb Hodges, 72, passed away Feb. 10, 2016, at Effingham Care Center.

The Cobbtown native was a member of First Baptist Church of Springfield and was a retired restaurant manager.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack “Ozzie Lane” Knabb and Elizabeth Moore Knabb; brothers, Earl, Heyward, Calvin, and Jerome Knabb; her father-in-law, James Lester Hodges.

Survivors include her husband, James Robert Hodges; sons and daughters-in-law, Toby Hodges, Heath and Cindy Hodges, and Bridget Hodges all of Springfield; 5 grandchildren, Anthony Hodges, Ash’ Lee Tillman, Victoria Hodges, Thylen Hodges, and Keaten Hodges; 5 great-grandchildren; brother, Nathaniel Knabb of Charlotte, NC; her mother-in-law, Mrs. Lois Hodges of Springfield; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Feb. 13 in the chapel.

Interment followed in Union Cemetery.

Lloyd Pate “Buck” Regan Jr.

Clyo – Lloyd Pate “Buck” Regan Jr., 74, passed away Feb. 9, 2016, at Hospice Savannah.

The North Carolina native graduated from ECHS in 1958 and Newberry College in 1963. He worked in retail until 1985 and owned and operated Williams Store until 1995.

He was a member of Wingard Memorial Lutheran Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd P. Regan and Earline P. Regan; and brother, Robert Regan.

Survivors include his daughters, Sherri Strickland (Norm Bush) of Panama City, Fla., and Marti (Glenn) Smith of Rincon; grandchildren, Karma Strickland of Gainesville, Fla. and Skylar Smith of Rincon; nephew, Eric (Brandy) Regan of Springfield.

Graveside funeral services were held on Feb. 11 at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
