
From incident reports at the Rincon Police Department:
Jan. 24: A woman said her former boyfriend has been harassing her. He told her she’d better not go to sleep because he was going to return at 4 a.m. to “get her.” An officer performed extra patrols and was there at 4 a.m. to make sure he didn’t show.
Jan. 25: A man said his former girlfriend has been harassing him. He said she claims she had his child but he isn’t sure if it’s his. He wanted a restraining order.
Jan. 26: An officer ran the tags of a vehicle at Towne Park Drive and Ga. 21 and found its registration was expired and it had no insurance. The driver was arrested for those violations and for suspended license.
Jan. 26: A 20-year-old Guyton woman was cited for trying to steal $129 worth of items from Walmart.
Jan. 26: Sisters argued on Jasper Lane. One took out a criminal trespass warning against the other.
Jan. 26: Officers stood by while a couple who were separating gathered their things. Windsong Drive.
Jan. 27: A resident of Oak Ridge Circle said she’s been getting inappropriate text messages from an unknown male. She was advised to block the number.
Disorderly boyfriend
Jan. 27: An officer tried to help a man who was beating on an apartment door and who said he just wanted to retrieve his belongings. Once inside, the man cursed at his former girlfriend, slammed things around and tried to take her property. He was arrested for disorderly conduct.
Shoplifter caught
Jan. 27: A 22-year-old Savannah man was arrested for felony shoplifting for trying to steal a cart full of items, including two TVs, from Walmart. The items were worth $941. He also was charged with giving a false identity to officers.
Jan. 27: A woman who came to the Rincon Police Department for a background check was arrested on a Port Wentworth warrant for failure to appear.
Jan. 28: A woman passed a bad check for $73 at a thrift store on Ga. 21.
Jan. 28: A couple argued in an apartment on Town Park Drive. They were told they could be cited for disorderly house if they can’t behave “like civilized adults.”
Jan. 28: A woman who said she always lets her three dogs run loose was given a citation for dog at large. Sherwood Road.
Wrong order
Jan. 29: A man who said his $20 order was incorrect at McDonald’s drive through came into the store to complain. The staff offered to remake his order and refund half of his money but he refused to return the food he’d already been given.
He threw food on the floor. He left before officers arrived, but they had his license plate number.
Jan. 30: A resident of Smith Avenue found three bags of trash in a ditch on his property. He said it wasn’t the first time.
