Effingham and Chatham Counties continue to stay in a flood warning due to the Ogeechee River. As of 2 p.m. Thursday, per the National Weather Service, the Ogeechee River at Eden reached 11.3 feet. Flood stage is 9 feet.
Minor flooding is occurring. No roadways are currently blocked and there have been no reports of homes being impacted.
The river was expected to rise to near 11.4 feet this afternoon and then begin a slow fall.
Officials said caution is still needed due to more expected rain on Friday and Saturday.
Depending on the location and the amount of rain, this could cause the river to begin to rise again. At 12 feet, the bottom floor of some homes at Morgan’s Bridge could begin to flood.
