The Rincon Police Department says it will recognize trick-or-treat hours from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31.
Police Chief Phillip Scholl said extra officers will be on patrol during those hours.
Scholl encourages children to wear a reflective garment or carry a lighting device.
Adults who follow children from house to house are urged to park off of the roadway, use their hazard lights or find a suitable place where they have permission to park and walk along with their children.
“We would like to ask everyone to be mindful of children walking along the roadways, and to be cautious when attempting to overtake those vehicles/trailers,” Scholl said.
Residents within large subdivisions who request an officer may experience a slight delay in response time, due to the foot traffic about the city, he said. Officers will respond as quickly as possible, keeping safety in mind.
