EFFINGHAM CO. ADVANCES WITH 16-POINT WIN

AUGUSTA — Ramona Wright scored a game-high 27 points as Effingham County defeated Laney 60-44 in the Class AAA girls’ high school basketball state playoffs Saturday at Richmond Academy.

The Rebels (20-9) advance to next week’s round Thursday in Macon, where they will play the winner of the Northeast Macon-Mitchell-Baker game at 7 p.m.

Wendy Gray added 13 and Shon Gibbons 12 for Effingham.

Shakethia Brown led Laney (20-8).

EFFINGHAM COUNTY (60)
