Springfield Police: Officers capture dogs left home alone

From incident reports at the Springfield Police Department:

Aug. 1: Someone stole a rug that was being cleaned at a laundry on Ga. 21. The owner left for 45 minutes and when she returned, it was gone.

Aug. 2: An employee at Huddle House admitted stealing a customer’s wallet. The employee returned the wallet, with everything inside, and the customer didn’t want to press charges. The employee was fired.

Hit and run

Aug 3: A woman said a black SUV hit her vehicle while she was in Family Dollar. Witnesses got the tag number.

An officer went to the offender’s house and asked why she left without saying anything. She said she didn’t think she did any damage. She was cited for leaving the scene of an accident.

Aug. 4: A couple argued about her sleeping with other men and being a drug addict. She said she only moves in with him when she needs money. Officers oversaw her gathering her things and getting a ride from a family member.

Aug. 7: A man said his daughter’s mother wouldn’t let his daughter come with him for a weekend visit. The mother said the daughter doesn’t want to go with him.

Aug. 8: A woman said someone damaged her car earlier in the day, when she was at Enmark or Dollar General.

Aug. 8: A resident of Spring Hollow Apartments on Ash Street Extension said another resident took her parking space and cursed at her. The other woman said they don’t have assigned spaces. An officer told them to talk to the apartment manager and stay away from each other.

Dogs abused

Aug. 13: Officers caught one dog and used a tranquilizer dart to subdue a second that were left alone for two weeks at a house on E. Second Street. The dogs had dog food and water, but the entire house was covered in feces and one of the dogs had mange and needed immediate care.

The officers turned the case over to Humane Enforcement deputies with the Sheriff’s Office.

Road rage

Aug. 17: A woman complained that another woman followed her on S. Laurel Street, blowing her horn and passing her in a no-passing zone. The other driver said the woman pulled out in front of her, nearly causing an accident.
