
From incident reports at the Springfield Police Department:
March 16: A Springfield woman saw another woman swallow a handful of pills. She didn’t know what type of pills. The woman was taken to the hospital to be checked.
March 18: A Springfield woman said the father of her child claimed the child as a dependent on his income taxes, without her permission. An officer told her to contact the IRS about the tax issue and magistrate court if she wants a restraining order.
March 19: A Springfield woman called 911 when she saw her brother strike his girlfriend twice in the area of the head while she was holding a child. The man ran because he thought he was wanted on a probation warrant. He was found and arrested for simple battery.
Deny, deny
March 21: A juvenile said he left his wallet on top of the Red Box machine in front of the Dollar General store on Ga. 21 while he went inside to ask his grandmother a question. When he returned, the wallet was gone.
A witness said he saw a woman get out of her vehicle and take the wallet. The woman, from Guyton, repeatedly denied taking the wallet, but eventually retrieved it from beneath the seat of her car. The boy got his wallet back and the woman was arrested for theft of mislaid property.
March 25: An officer stopped a vehicle for weaving on S. Laurel Street. The driver, from Savannah, was arrested for drunken driving and failure to maintain lane.
March 28: An officer sitting in the Chamber of Commerce parking lot on Ga. 21 clocked a vehicle doing 63 mph in a 45 mph zone. The driver, from Louisburg, N.C., was arrested for driving with a suspended license and speeding. The vehicle was towed.
March 30: A Springfield woman said a storage unit was broken into and a bathroom valve set, valued at $350, was stolen.
March 30: An officer did a report because someone said they believe another vehicle struck theirs in the hospital parking lot. There was a small amount of damage to the back bumper.
