A man from Newington and one from Springfield are in the Effingham County jail today on charges of distributing marijuana and cocaine.
Sheriff’s deputies arrived at a residence at 297 Standard Lane in the Springfield area yesterday to serve civil paperwork.
Several men fled on foot into the neighborhood and into the residence, leaving a half pound of marijuana in the yard, according to Sheriff’s Sgt. Don White.
The residence was secured and a search warrant was obtained. Deputies found more than 2 pounds of marijuana, a small amount of crack cocaine and $4,200 in cash, White said.
Dryan Markel Bartley, 37, of Newington, was arrested on charges of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of marijuana.
Antwan Bernard Dillard, 27, of Springfield was also arrested. He was charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana and probation violation.
