Effingham Sheriff: Men dislike women snoring, wearing short shorts

From incident reports at the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office:

Jan. 21: A deputy retrieved a beagle mix that had been hit by a car. The dog was humanely euthanized. Clyo-Shawnee Road in the Clyo area.

Feb. 2: Some pallets were stolen from behind a building on Commercial Court in the Rincon area.

Feb. 3: A resident of Beebe Road in the Springfield area said the balance was lower than it should be on his Walmart prepaid money card. He said a replacement card had been sent to an address in Miami, and the card was used there.

Feb. 4: A deputy caught three black labs that were roaming on Central Boulevard in the Guyton area.

Snoring dispute

Feb. 5: A 44-year-old resident of Cypress Drive in the Rincon area said her boyfriend woke her because she was snoring. She said he yelled and cursed at her. She said he did not get physical with her but that he has in the past.

Feb. 5: Springfield Police tried to stop a vehicle, but the driver failed to yield. The vehicle eventually pulled into a residence on Webb Road near McCall Road in the Springfield area. The driver was arrested.

Feb. 5: Three wheels were removed from a pickup truck parked at a business on Ga. 21 in Springfield.

Feb. 5: The back door was kicked open on a residence on Old River Road in the Bloomingdale area. A 52-inch TV and several blank checks were taken.

Feb. 5: A resident of U.S. 80 in the Eden area who was leaning on a vehicle that was being repossessed said her back was hurt. The man taking the vehicle said he asked her to move but she did not. She did not request medical treatment.

No crime

Feb. 5: A resident of Old Louisville Road in the Guyton area said her grandson’s girlfriend broke into her house and took some things. The woman entered through a window she knew was unlocked and took only her own possessions, and left a note explaining what she had done.

A deputy told the homeowner that the woman’s actions were not criminal since she lived there and only took her own things.

Feb. 6: A Rincon man said his 13-year-old daughter was threatened by two other females at Ebenezer Middle School.

Feb. 6: A trailer was stolen from behind a shed on McCall Road in the Rincon area.

Feb. 6: A woman and her 14-year-old granddaughter argued because the girl was not being allowed to attend a game at Effingham County High School.

The grandmother said the granddaughter threw cereal in her face. The girl said she was running and threw the cereal behind her, not meaning to hit her grandmother. Oakton Drive in the Springfield area.

Feb. 6: A deputy stopped a vehicle for driving recklessly on Huger Street in the Rincon area. The driver was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug-related objects, driving too fast for conditions and driving with a suspended license.

Feb. 6: A deputy stopped a truck with a broken tail light on Sandhill Road in the Guyton area. He confiscated some synthetic marijuana and a smoking device and let the driver and passenger go with a warning. The case was turned over to the Drug Enforcement Unit for further review.

Feb. 7: A deputy stopped a vehicle on Bay Road for running a stop sign at Withlacoochee Avenue in the Meldrim area. The driver smelled of alcohol, was upset, and had marks on her face and throat. She said her boyfriend had struck her.

The deputy did not charge her for drunken driving due to her emotional state. When her boyfriend was put in handcuffs, she changed her story and said he didn’t hit her.

Feb. 7: A deputy stopped a vehicle for weaving on U.S. 80 in the Eden area. The driver was arrested for possession of a controlled substance – Oxycodone – and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. She said she was aware she was not supposed to have a firearm but said she borrowed the shotgun to shoot some stray dogs.

Short shorts

Feb. 8: An estranged couple argued. He accused her of wearing very short shorts and being an unfit mother. He threw her laptop on the floor. Early Street in the Springfield area.

Feb. 8: A Statesboro woman said she was attacked by a woman on Church Hill Road in the Clyo area. She had injuries to her back and broken fingernails.

Feb. 8: A 17-year-old woman from Hortense and her boyfriend argued over who was going to keep their 2-month-old child. Stagecoach Avenue in the Guyton area.

Feb. 8: A woman said a man threw a plate at her for no reason. He was arrested for public drunkenness, criminal trespass, carrying a concealed weapon and obstructing law enforcement. Quail Run Circle in the Springfield area.

Feb. 8: A deputy stopped a vehicle that was speeding, slamming on brakes, running stop signs and running off the road. The driver was arrested for drunken driving and running a stop sign.

 

A passenger who screamed and cursed at the officer and told him to “shut up” repeatedly refused to stop interfering. She was arrested for obstructing and hindering a law enforcement officer. Ralph Rahn Road in the Springfield area.
