Dec. 27: An officer responded to a call about a vehicle with its headlights on in a driveway on Fox Trace. No one answered the door. He turned the lights off on the vehicle.
Dec. 28: An officer listened to a complainant about a long-simmering family feud. E. Sixth Street.
Fight at Walmart
Dec. 28: Four women fought at Walmart. The argument stemmed from an investigation into an accident in Effingham in December, when one man died and another left the scene of the accident. Two of the women were cited for disorderly conduct.
Dec. 29: A hunting rifle was stolen from an unlocked truck on Crosswinds Drive.
Dec. 29: A resident of Deerwood Court said a man who says he’s from the “Federal Crime Bureau” has been calling her and trying to make her pay $396. She told him to meet her at the Rincon Police Department, but he told her there was no need to get police involved.
Dec. 30: A resident of Dresler Road said there were tire tracks in his yard leading to the pallets of grass that were being used to sod the yard of the house next door.
Dec. 30: Two guns were taken from an unlocked vehicle on Madison Oaks Drive.
Dec. 30: A mailbox was knocked to the ground on W. Ninth Street.
Dec. 30: A door was found open on a residence on S. Howard Avenue. A 32-inch TV and PlayStation 3 were stolen.
Dec. 30: A resident of Town Park Drive W. said he got a letter about an overdue credit card bill for $1,786. He said the letter was addressed to his father, but had his credit information. He said his father misused his credit once before, in 2009.
Dec. 30: A resident of Willowpeg Lane said her girlfriend stole some jewelry when she was picking up things from her house to bring to her while she was in the hospital.
Jan. 2: A resident of Town Park Drive said someone entered her back screened porch. She said a man has been loitering around her property.
Jan. 2: A resident of Old Middleground Road said he thinks he lost his wallet at the Gate store. His debit card was used for $35 but it was denied for $90.
Under the fence
Jan. 3: Officers caught two men who tried to steal $864 worth of items from Walmart by pushing the items under the fence in the lawn and garden area. One was caught after he fled into the KFC. They were charged with felony shoplifting and felony party to a crime.
Jan. 3: An officer stopped a vehicle that the tag reader cited as having no insurance. The vehicle had insurance, but its registration was suspended. The driver was cited for the violation. A passenger was arrested for possession of marijuana and an Effingham warrant.
Jan. 4: A Sylvania man said he struck a large hole in front of the Huddle House and BB&T Bank, flattening two tires and damaging two rims.
Jan. 4: The tag reader flagged a vehicle as having suspended registration. The vehicle was towed and the driver was cited for suspended registration, no insurance and driving with a suspended license.
Jan. 4: The tag reader sounded on a vehicle for having suspended registration. The vehicle was towed and the driver was cited for suspended registration and no insurance.
Jan. 4: Tape that was over a broken window on a vehicle on Bayberry Lane was cut. An extra key inside the vehicle was stolen.
Sleepy driver
Jan. 4: A driver of a pickup truck that was weaving on Ga. 21 stopped at the Bank of America ATM, where an officer found him asleep, leaning against the ATM machine. The 33-year-old Guyton man, who said he was tired from working on his truck, was cited for driving with a suspended license. He was allowed to have someone pick him up.
Jan. 4: A resident of Flint Drive said someone shuffled through items in her vehicle. She said a box was left behind, containing a FedEx receipt with a name and address in Port Wentworth. She said nothing was missing.
Jan. 5: A father called 911 because his son was screaming at him. The son was gone when officers arrived. Weisenbaker Road.
Jan. 5: An officer oversaw a North Carolina man picking up his motorcycle from a self-storage unit on Ga. 21.
Jan. 5: A resident of Dresler Road said a man who used to work with his wife used his credit information to order $249 worth of shoes from Masseys catalog.
Jan. 6: A resident of Sherwood Court agreed to pay a water bill of $262 and a $100 deposit in exchange for the city dropping a theft of services charge.
Jan. 6: A shopper said she left her wallet in a cart at Walmart and when she returned to get it, it was gone. It contained $200 in cash and two bank cards.
Jan. 7: The registration decal was stolen from a vehicle on Ridgewood Circle.
Vehicle damaged
Jan. 7: A resident of Westwood Drive said she thinks her vehicle was damaged in the Walmart parking lot. The vehicle had a “large amount of damage” extending the entire length of the passenger side.
Jan. 8: A customer’s vehicle struck the control box to the entrance gate at Continental Storage, on Ga. 21.
Jan. 8: A resident of Rahn Street said a man she went to high school with has been harassing her via Facebook and text messages. He said he loves her and would treat her better than her current boyfriend. She said she doesn’t want anything to do with him and she’s afraid he might hurt her.
Jan. 9: An iPhone was stolen from an unlocked vehicle on Flint Drive. The phone was broken and was packaged so it could be mailed back to the cell phone carrier.
Jan. 9: Someone cut the fence at Little Effingham Storage on Ga. 21. Locks had been removed from five units.
Jan. 9: A 19-year-old Savannah man was caught stealing three flea and tick removal items, valued at a total of $38, from Walmart and returning them for a gift card at the service desk. He was arrested for shoplifting.
Jan. 10: A GPS unit, valued at $150, was stolen from an unlocked vehicle on Centerwood Court.
Jan. 10: A gun and ammunition were stolen from a vehicle, possibly when it was parked on Smithfield Drive.
Jan. 10: A resident of Cambridge Drive lost her wallet, possibly when she was shopping at Goody’s. Someone used her debit card to purchase gas at Enmark.
Wrong-way driver
Jan. 10: An officer stopped a pickup truck that was traveling south in the northbound lanes of Ga. 21 close to 4 a.m. The driver said the turn lane was “weird” and he didn’t understand it. He was arrested for drunken driving-less safe and driving on the wrong side of the road.
