DECEMBER LIBRARY EVENTS

New library hours

The following are the new hours of operation at Effingham’s libraries:

Springfield: Mondays 2 to 6 p.m.; Tuesdays 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Wednesdays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Thursdays 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (closed Fridays and Sundays)

Rincon: Mondays 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Tuesdays 2 to 6 p.m.; Wednesdays through Saturdays 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (closed Sundays)

Winter Reading Program

Dec. 1 to 31

All Live Oak Public Library branches

Ages 0 to 18

Children and teens are invited to participate in this year’s Winter Reading Program at Live Oak Public Libraries. To get started reading for prizes this winter break, stop by any Live Oak Public Libraries branch to sign up and pick up your Winter Reading Record. Each time you read a total of three hours, return your reading record to the library for a prize, while supplies last, plus an entry form to win one of the grand prizes, a 7” tablet. All entry forms for the grand prize must be submitted by Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2014, to qualify. Grand prize drawings will be held the first week of January.

How the Grinch Stole the Polar Express

The Grinch tolerated Christmas in the past, but is now determined to ruin it for the whole world. He hatches a plan that involves The Polar Express, Little Drummer Boy, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, and all kinds of fun in this holiday balloon extravaganza. All ages.

Dog Days

In this popular library program, children are encouraged to practice their reading skills with the most patient and loving listeners: therapy dogs. For readers ages 5 and up. (Note: Some of the dogs at this special library program are “Tail Waggin’ Tutors” from Therapy Dogs International.)

LEGO® Club

Think you’re a master LEGO® builder? Join our LEGO® club to hone your skills. Our meetings will include a themed LEGO® build where you can create your own masterpieces! Ages 5 and up.
