ECHS hosts Coastal Marching band competition
The Effingham County High School band hosted the 33rd annual Coastal Empire Classic Marching Competition on Oct. 4.
The Rebel Regiment performed their 2014 competitive show, “Pathfinder,” for exhibition only.
The Marching Mustangs competed against Richmond Hill High School. Richmond Hill won Grand Champion title.
Other area bands participating included Statesboro High School, Screven County High School, Glynn Academy, Savannah Christian, Windsor Forest High School, and New Hampstead High School.
Founded by the acclaimed Georgia band director and arranger Bill Locklear in 1981, the Coastal Classic was created to provide a top notch contest for the southeast Georgia region.
From its humble beginnings as a regional contest, the Classic grew to a multi-state marching showcase, drawing groups from all areas of Georgia, as well as South Carolina and North Florida.
