Rincon Police: Officer videos roommate

From incident reports at the Rincon Police Department:

Aug. 29: An officer checked on a car that stopped in the middle of W. Fifth Street, at the dead end. The car was towed and the driver was cited for no insurance.

Aug. 30: A resident of Jasper Lane said she believes a friend of one of her son’s friends stole his iPod from her house. She said the boy came to get something to drink, at about 9:30 p.m., and was unsupervised. The iPod was missing after that.

Guns stolen

Sept. 1: Residents of Walnut Way said eight guns, valued at $800, were taken from a gun case in their house. They said there have been disputes over the weapons and a family member could have taken them.

Sept. 1: A resident of Newington said he was visiting a friend at Willowpeg apartments when his girlfriend took his car keys. He said he followed her to Springfield and she dropped the keys at the sheriff’s annex. Sept. 1: A resident of Lisa Street said her cellphone and laptop were stolen a month ago. She suspects her roommate’s friend.

Sept. 1: A 31-year-old resident of Wiregrass Trail said her 33-year-old brother hit her on the back of her head because he was angry that she moved back into her mother’s house.

Sept. 2: A Rincon woman was arrested for trying to steal $153 worth of clothing from Walmart.

Officer videos roommate

Sept. 3: A resident of Towne Park Apartments, who is a police officer in the Town of Newington in Screven County, has video of his roommate stealing a laptop computer and iPhone. The items belong to Newington. He and his roommate were having conflicts, so the roommate decided to move.

Sept. 4: Loss prevention officers from Walmart were unable to stop a suspected shoplifter. Rincon Police officers were unable to find him.

Change stolen

Sept. 5: A Rincon woman said she used the self-checkout line at Kroger and mistakenly left her change behind -- $60. When she returned to the store, a manager checked the video and found that a man who came behind her took the money.

Officers were trying to identify the man on the video, who bought Pedigree dog food and paid with cash.

Sept. 5: A resident of Effingham Park apartments said someone kicked in her door while she and her two children were in her apartment. She said she and her roommate argued the day before about finances.

She said she believes he took her car the day before because it was parked differently when she saw it later.

Sept. 5: A Rincon man said another Rincon man threw a milkshake at his car on S. Howard Avenue. He said the man may be angry because he believes he stole some guns from him or bought some of his stolen guns from someone else. He was told how to get a warrant for disorderly conduct and a protective order.
