Wow. That is the first word that came to mind last week when I visited and lunched with the women of the Pilgrim Baptist Missionary Association.
The women of the church held a luncheon where they celebrated Christian women in leadership.
This group of women really knows how to appreciate and help one another.
Guests were warmly welcomed and it was really an honor – and a treat – to be included in the fun.
My heart leaped a bit and I had chills when Lucille Montgomery was handed the microphone and began to sing.
This woman of a “mature” age filled the room with her song of prayer.
It was an uplifting moment for me as well as others.
Thanks again to the women of Pilgrim Missionary Baptist for a wonderful Friday.

Shopping
I have to say I’m not much for shopping. About thirty minutes or so in a mall, or any store, is about all I can take. My husband even does the grocery shopping. It’s a chore I’m happy to miss.
I’m more of a get in and get out quick type and an online shopper. I did spend a good deal of time over the weekend, however, browsing and shopping in Effingham County and was pleasantly surprised.
Just in case you have not noticed, downtown Springfield has become an antique/thrift shopper’s dream.
Laurel Street is lined with shop after shop filled with treasures big and small.
Treasures new and old can also be found in many Rincon shops and making a Saturday trip to Effingham from retail rich Pooler for shopping was an enjoyable way to spend my day.
Keep your dollars local and have some fun too in Effingham’s shops.
No matter what type of shopper you are, the next time you get the itch, be sure to take a stroll down Laurel Street and check out the local shops in Rincon and Guyton.
You just might find a trip down the highway to Chatham County isn’t necessary at all.
