Springfield Police: Speeders; Slow chase

From incident reports at the Springfield Police Department:

Aug. 12: An officer tried to stop a car with a broken brake light at W. First Street and Ga. 119 S. The driver drove more than a half-mile, in a slow-speed chase, before stopping at a house at the end of Oakton Drive in the county.

She said she didn’t stop until she got to her sister’s house because she doesn’t trust police and wanted her sister as a witness. She was cited for driving an unregistered vehicle, driving without a license on her person and failure to yield for an emergency vehicle.

Aug. 13: Two intoxicated men fought at a house on Rose Drive. Since there have been other incidents at this house in which everyone was intoxicated, the owner got a disorderly house warning.

Aug. 13: An officer sitting in the Chamber of Commerce parking lot clocked a pickup truck going 63 mph in a 45 mph zone on Ga. 21. The woman, who said she has lived in Georgia for six months, had a suspended State of Washington driver’s license. She was arrested for driving with a suspended license and was cited for speeding.

Aug. 16: An officer sitting in the Chamber of Commerce parking lot clocked an SUV going 64 mph in a 45 mph zone on Ga. 21. The vehicle was towed and the driver was cited for driving without a license, no insurance, altering a license plate for the purpose of misrepresentation and speeding. The SUV had a temporary tag that belonged to another vehicle and that had an altered date.

Aug. 17: An officer on patrol noticed a man on a bicycle who seemed to be avoiding him. It was a man who was wanted on an arrest warrant. He was arrested.

Aug. 17: A man at Enmark said another man was harassing him as he pumped gas, cursing and saying he would “beat his a--” later, when they were alone. He said the man was angry because he and his girlfriend are behind on rent owed to the man’s mother. He was told about warrant procedures and how to get a temporary restraining order.

Aug. 18: An officer operating radar at W. Third Street and Ga. 21, at the Chamber of Commerce building, clocked a minivan going 67 mph in a 45 mph zone. The driver was wanted on an active probation warrant in Port Wentworth. He was delivered to Port Wentworth Police and cited for speeding. The minivan was released to a passenger, the owner of the vehicle.
