The Effingham County animal shelter is overrun with kittens this week.

They have kittens in a variety of sizes and colors and temperaments available for adoption.

“They’re in desperate need of adoption,” Adoption Coordinator Bill Cowan said. He pleaded with the public to have their cats spayed and neutered. “We’re at full capacity,” he said.

To adopt a kitten from the shelter, call 912-754-2109 or visit at 307 Ga. 119 S. in Springfield.

Or, go to the shelter’s Web page: http://www.effinghamcounty.org/DepartmentsAF/AnimalShelter.aspx.

Go to the drop-down list under “Departments A-F” and go to “Animal Shelter” and then “Adoption Page” to see information about some of the dogs and cats that are available.

Adoption fees are $35 for a dog, plus $15 for rabies shots; and $25 for a cat, plus $15 for rabies shots. Adopting families also must pledge to have the animal spayed or neutered within three months.
