Two teenagers reported to be stranded in a pond near Meldrim have been found and are safe.
Effingham County Sheriff’s Office spokesman David Ehsanipoor said the teens, ages 13 and 16, called for help from a cell phone after becoming lost and ending up in the pond.
The two were found holding on to a log.
"They were walking near some railroad tracks in Meldrim and somehow ended up in the pond," Ehsanipoor said.
The pair are okay, but are cold and are being treated for exposure by Effingham EMS.
