The 280th Salzburger Landing Day celebration will be celebrated on Saturday, March 15 at 2 p.m. Ebenezer Lutheran Church.
The anniversary marks the first group of Salzburgers landing in Georgia on March 12, 1734.
Guest speaker will be Dan Elliott. Elliott is an archaeologist and his topic for the day will be, “Ebenezer and the lost Salzburgers, or whatever happened to Reb. Triebner after the war anyway.”
New officers will be elected to the Georgia Salzburger Society board along with a new president and vice-president.
Long time curator for the GSS museum, Martha Zeigler, is retiring and will be honored, along with Roger Stephens who is retiring as assistant curator. Five board members are also retiring and will be honored, including: Claudia Christiansen, Philip Gnann, Barbara Scott, Josh Zeigler and G. Henry Mingledorff III. Also retiring is GSS president Keith Zeigler and secretary Mary Sue Kessler.
Special guests for the day include Consul General Christoph Sanders of Germany.
