A man from Guyton and one from Hortense, Ga., were arrested for child molestation in Effingham County after a three-month investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.
Clinton “Clint” Clements, 32, of Guyton and James Lewis Jr., 29, of Hortense, Ga., were arrested and charged with child molestation, enticing a child for indecent purposes and interference with custody, according to Sheriff’s spokesman David Ehsanipoor.
The investigation began when deputies discovered that Lewis engaged in sexual activity with a minor in Effingham County, Ehsanipoor said.
Lewis contacted the victim via social networking. A relationship ensued between the two, resulting in Lewis ultimately meeting the minor for sex.
During interviews with the child, it was revealed she also was contacted by Clements, who also engaged in sexual activity with her.
Investigators believe the two men may have been in contact with other minor children in the area via social networking.
Ehsanipoor urged parents to examine their children’s social networking pages and report any contact with either of the men to the Sheriff’s Office.
