The annual Taste of Effingham presented by the Effingham Chamber of Commerce will be held on Thursday, March 6, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Chamber Director Rick Lott said that as of Wednesday, Feb. 16, there were 14 booths signed up to provide food and beverage to the audience at the Recreation Department Gym on Ga. 119 in Springfield.

Among the restaurants, caterers and beverage providers signed up already are: Chef Nick Mueller of the Laughing Boar, the Schnitzel Shack, Simply Catering, Gaffney’s Cheap Seats, the Caribbean Shack, El Real Mexican, Majestic Cupcakes, the Effingham College and Career Academy, The Vintage Bee, Muthers BBQ, Butterducks Winery, Morgan Farms Jellies, Coca Cola, Miller Lite, and with more to come. Lott said restaurants can still sign up so they’re not left out.

“For one low price you’ll be able to sample delicious treats from a room full of restaurants and caterers, enjoy a glass of wine, beer, Coke or water, and enjoy great Irish music while looking at the great items for purchase in our Silent Auction,” Lott said.

Lott said he’s working to put a “first class” auction together and already has weekend hotel packages for St. Simon’s Island, Atlanta’s Ritz Carlton and Chattanooga put together along with a Riverstreet Riverboat Dinner Cruise, a YMCA membership and more. “This is one auction you won’t want to miss,” said Lott.

And to lend an Irish flavor to the evening, popular Irish singers Harry O’Donoghue and Carroll Brown will perform.

“This will be Effingham’s own little St. Patrick’s celebration,” Lott said.

Lott said the chamber is hoping for a crowd of between 500 and 600.
