From incident reports at the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office:

Dec. 16: A resident of Orchard Drive in the Rincon area said a dog from a neighboring subdivision keeps digging a hole under her fence and coming into her house through the doggie door. The owner of the dog said the animal got loose by accident when his 97-year-old grandmother opened the door.

Dec. 17: A drunken couple argued over spilled food on Eagle Drive in the Springfield area. The woman said her husband dragged her by the hair into the front yard. A deputy said the primary aggressor could not be determined.

Dec. 20: A Guyton woman reported receiving a threatening letter from her husband, who is in the state prison system. In the expletive-laden letter, he wrote, “I hope he makes you happy” and said she’d better tell “whoever it is to look out” because he’d be there soon.

Dec. 20: Someone entered a house on Sand Hill Road in the Guyton area and stole an iPhone and a video game system. The back door was locked but the homeowner demonstrated how the door is easy to open without creating any damage.

Dec. 20: A man from Ellabell was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol under 21 after a vehicle wreck. Wittkamp Road in the Guyton area.

Dec. 21: A deputy responded to a 911 hang-up call from a residence on Tunnel Road in the Springfield area. He found a woman who pretended to be asleep and a man who was hiding in bushes behind the house, saying he didn’t want trouble. Because of an “overwhelming” number of calls from the house, they were issued a disorderly house warning.
